Installing Joomla

One of Joomla's nicer features is the install.  I have installed WordPress, Expression Engine, and Joomla.  While none of the three were particularly challenging, I found the Joomla installation to be the most informative and friendly of the three.

I recommend installing a "scratch site" (using a sub-folder) for your first-ever, experimental install.  I also recommend that you go ahead and populate it with the default content. It is most likely the only time you will choose this, however it helps the first-time user to learn the management console if there is some content already there when they begin driving.
